The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to ensure compliance with contract specifications, company quality programs, and ISO standards. Working under general supervision, this role supports production flow by communicating with Production Supervisors and Material Handlers to facilitate material movement from receiving through inventory and production.
Responsibilities
Perform visual, dimensional, and content inspections on incoming, WIP, and finished components.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and SolidWorks drawings.
Identify, document, and quarantine nonconforming materials or components.
Conduct final inspections and audits to verify product conformance.
Perform 100% dimensional inspections as required.
Use and maintain precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges).
Verify, tag, and identify incoming materials for inventory control.
Maintain accurate inspection and quality records in accordance with ISO procedures.
Communicate and monitor rework and scrap activities.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Follow all safety rules and quality procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently; move up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and twisting.
Work at heights up to 15 feet.
Requires close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
Metal fabrication and assembly shop, plant grounds, and office environment.
Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, moving machinery, humidity, and weather conditions.
Required PPE includes safety glasses and safety shoes; additional PPE as needed.
Requirements
1-3 years quality experience from a manufacturing environment specifically
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques.
Ability to read technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
Proficiency with basic computer applications.
Strong math, technical, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with cross-functional teams.
Forklift certification desirable; quality control certification preferred.
