Job Description

Responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pre-production Activity

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·

Reviews all work to do and develops a daily schedule to accomplish all work in a timely manner.

 

·

Attends the internal meeting to review and understand the work load and requirements.

 

·

Reviews and approves work load planning and scheduling as presented by the Shop Supervisor.

 

·

Approves the production schedule.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Operations

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·

Interfaces frequently with the Shop Supervisor, QC Manger, 2nd Shift Supervisor, and the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor regarding work in progress, productivity, scheduling and staffing, problem identification and resolution, and customer service.

·

Monitors actual costs against budgets for all work; investigates variances and works with his/her staff to provide reasons and corrective action.

·

Ensures that proper procedures are in place and enforced regarding the review, approval and completion of scheduled changes.

·

Assists the Shop Supervisor in planning and executing corrective actions to ensure that scheduled jobs meet or exceed scheduled jobs profitability goals.

Financial Management

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·

Reviews periodic updates of employee and equipment billing rates and burden percentages (as they relate to job estimates).

·

Participants in the development of an annual predetermined profit plan.

 

 

 

·

Holds responsibility for meeting the gross profit dollar and percentage goals as put forth in the predetermined profit plan.

·

Monitors financial performance against the profit plan on a monthly or more frequent basis; takes actions to remedy variances from plan.

General Human Resource Management

 

 

 

 

 

 

·

Develops and executes a staffing program to have an adequate number and quality of employees.

 

·

Responsible for general administrative personnel.

 

 

 

 

 

·

Works with the Shop Supervisor to develop a staffing and training plan that provides a workforce adequate to meet the financial and operational goals of the company.

·

Ensures that his staff members have the proper tools to manage job performance and efficiently perform their responsibilities to meet the company’s productivity, quality, customer service and profit goals.

·

Complies with the company’s system of regular employee performance evaluations.

 

 

·

Trains, motivates, and manages subordinates to achieve their full potential and to gain a thorough understanding of the company’s performance and margin objectives.

·

Meets with the department employees regularly to ensure that proper information has been communicated to achieve goals and objectives.

·

Maintains positive relationships with clients, vendors and the general business community.

 

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

 

 

 

 

 

 

·

BA / BS in a business or technical discipline.

 

 

 

 

 

Minimum Previous Experience:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·

10 years of manufacturing management experience in a job shop environment.
