Job Description

Job Summary: The fabrication floater will primarily be filling in on any work center in fab as needed depending on the workload. Training will be given for basic operations on any of the fabrication equipment along with all the necessary safety features and practices. This candidate will also be required to use all supplied measuring devices such as: calipers, tape measures, protractors, radius gauges, and form fixtures. Other responsibilities will include, identifying material types and sizes, material handling using a forklift, staging and moving parts throughout the department, 6S on a regular basis, and anything else the department lead/supervisor deems necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:
The floater performs all duties in the department that he/she is assigned to for that day. This includes operation of various fabrication equipment if instructed by the lead/supervisor
Utilizing the tools in that department to perform the job.
Reports any quality issues she/he may see with product, or process to the lead/supervisor.
Assists all fabrication personal as needed if instructed by the lead/supervisor.
Ensures fabrication personnel has all the necessary material/parts/tools required to perform their operations without interruption.
Notifies lead/supervisor when raw material is not stocked appropriately or unsafely.
Utilizes Labor track system to punch in and out of jobs correctly, claim or scrap parts accurately, and determine what jobs need to be completed in the schedule for that day.
The fabrication floater will be assisting in maintaining the shipping dock, loading/unloading raw material to and from the cassette rack, and staging parts for the operators.
Cleans and maintains work area (daily), material handling equipment and other tools/equipment per 6S requirements.
Works in a safe manner at all times and wears all the required PPE at all times.
Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to ISO and Quality standards.
Physical Demands:
Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100lbs with assistance (infrequently), 25-50lbs (frequently).
Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 300lbs with assistance. (250T or 385T press brakes)
Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting (operating forklift), walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body.
Working at heights off the ground up to 20 feet.
Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
Work Environment:
Work location: Metal fabrication/weld departments, and indoor/outdoor storage areas.
Exposure to: Fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts/equipment including overhead cranes, sharp/heavy materials, inclement weather.
Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, side shields (use with prescription glasses) and safety shoes.
Position Requirements:
Key skills, abilities and knowledge:
o Ability to read and understand job requirements, shop drawings, and blueprints.
o Ability to operate fabrication equipment including, Laser, saw, press brake, ring roller, lift trucks, power hoists, etc. (all training and licensing will be provided)
o Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
o Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
Experiential: One or more years of fabrication and material handling experience.
Educational: Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.
