Job Description

The Lead-Back Section provides area leadership and direct supervision while serving as the lead worker to Back Section employees on a particular shift. In addition, the Lead may perform all Back Section tasks (e.g., final assembly, inspection, etc.) as necessary.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that production team is aware of day-to-day production output expectations.

  • Manage work order closures and inventory control transactions.

  • Analyze workload and make staffing or hours proposals to management.

  • Report on Key Performance Indicators at towers and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic quarterly and annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables.

  • Identify and report non-conforming material to quality department on a daily basis, using proper company forms such as but not limited to MRR’s scrap log forms, and ECR’s.

  • Keeps team members informed about company rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.

  • Upholds work rules, assists, and counsels employees, and initiates disciplinary measures as needed.

  • Work with engineering or submit ECR changes to resolve any drawing and design issues.

  • Monitors all work-in-progress and spot-checks completed jobs to ensure that specifications are met.

  • Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.

  • Make recommendations on production methods, efficiency improvements and quality improvements.

  • Ensure that the tools in the department are properly calibrated.

  • Always ensures full adherence to 6S practices.

  • Trains (or oversees training of) all employees to maintain staff proficiency in all area tasks

  • Undertake continuous training and development.

  • Resolves conflicts that arise among team members and/or other employees.

  • Ensures that work areas, equipment and other tools of the trade are clean and properly maintained.

  • Ensures that the necessary equipment, tools, PPE, and supplies are available and in working order

  • Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other company policies and procedures.

  • Lead departments daily safety stretching and daily kick off meetings.

  • Performs root cause analysis and resolves problems.

  • Carry out incident and accident reporting in a timely manner.

  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team

  • Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained.

  • Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to ISO and Quality standards.

  • Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100 (occasionally), 50 (frequently).

  • Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 100.

  • Working at heights off the ground up to 15 feet.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and work with others and lead immediate subordinates.

  • Ability to organize and direct work activities in a fast-paced, shop environment.

  • Working knowledge of the specific practices and methods in radiator assembly.

  • Ability to read and understand job routings, shop drawings, and blueprints.

  • Knowledge of properties of the metals and related materials used in radiator assembly.

  • Skill in using and maintaining assembly tools and equipment.

  • 5 or more years of manufacturing experience, preferably as a lead/supervisor.

  • Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.

  • Forklift operator certification.
