We have a sanding position open. This will be our production shift 6 am – 430 pm Monday through Thursday. There is a lot of work coming up in that area so it is full time with possible overtime scheduled on Fridays if needed, must have good attendance and work history to be dependable. Must be able to stand and do production work for 10 hour shift. If they have good hand tool experience that is helpful since they do often cross-train into our mill assembly area. We will consider candidates with good potential to learn a woodworking career with us. Must be able to see flaws in wood and have patience to learn our processes. They will use hand and electric sanders to prepare wood and solid surfaces.
Employee Duties & Responsibilities
1) Smooths wood surfaces to facilitate finishing, using portable belt, disk, orbital, or vibrator sanding machine.
2) Attaches sheet, disk or belt of abrasive material to machine rollers or platen and secures it with thumbscrews or clamps.
3) Starts machine guides it over surfaces by hand.
4) Inspects feels stock for smoothness.
5) May remove excess glue from joints, using knife, scraper, or wood chisel.
6) May sand wood surface by hand, using sandpaper..

I forgot to mention this is adding a position due to orders. Also, they may go between sanding and also our mill assembly, which uses nail guns, clamps and adhesives to build the furniture frames. That is why I mentioned good hand tool experience.
